Where was the problem?

Anonymous interviewee:  

"Picture this: you're all set to hit the books, but before you know it, your phone buzzes with notifications, social media beckons, and your focus takes a fall. We've all been there, right? 
Who can resist the temptation of cat videos and funny memes?"

I discovered that distracted reading is a real struggle, exacerbated by the never-ending allure of the internet.

Initial Observation

Help you remember what you know

 I observed distracted reading and personally this condition prevailing among my peers. My goal was to uncover the factors causing distraction and improve the learning experience through emerging tech. And how can I improve using natural way of learning. So I began my ambiguous journey from here.

I asked few people how do they read and take notes

- Knowing more about the story:

To know about remembering and forgetting information and what distracts them, I put out of questionnaire to my fellow designers @NID and peers.

Understanding

Activities like note-taking, mind mapping or mere documenting, keeps the readers engaged in the process of learning and helped them keep focused for extended period of time than their usual focus span

Synthesizing pain points

Omnipresence of technological distractions made many individuals struggle with maintaining focus while reading.

Remembering and retaining information from textbooks and study materials can be a daunting task, hindering effective learning outcomes.

Appending engaging experience in traditional reading methods helped to captivate learners.

Distracted reading, fueled by technological interruptions, leads to reduced understanding of the material, hindering effective learning and knowledge absorption.

Difficulties in remembering and retaining information from textbooks and study materials limit the ability to recall crucial details during exams, assignments, or real-world applications.

Interactive elements unknown to many users in traditional reading experiences results in decreased motivation, reduced retention, and this provides opportunity to make learning an enjoyable and immersive journey

Through the research we discovered that notetaking is the key to combating forgetfulness and interactive learning brings vibrancy into the learning process. 

"How might we create an engaging and interactive learning experience in a study room or even in a library that combats distracted reading, enhances retention, and fosters a deeper understanding of educational content?"

Epilogue

When we think about how to make our world a better place, we often realize that individual behavior is a key factor. Our behavior is influenced by the information we receive from our loved ones and the world around us, so it's important to be mindful of the messages we're sending. By collecting data, we can learn more about the issues we want to address and how to approach them. Education is also a critical tool in helping us understand and make sense of the world. To make it even more effective, we need to improve how we transition from learning to action. By combining hands-on experience with cognitive learning, we can remember important lessons and make better choices. With this approach, we can create a more informed and responsible society that is better equipped to tackle the challenges we face.
